WATCH: Mark Stoops' Press Conference after Kentucky's loss to Georgia

Mark Stoops was quick to shoulder the blame following Kentucky’s 51-13 loss to No. 1 Georgia. From start to finish, the Bulldogs walloped the Wildcats, racking up 608 yards of total offense to Kentucky’s 183. The Cats accumulated only 55 net rushing yards, a harsh slap of reality after running wild vs. Florida last week.

“I’ll put this one on me,” Stoops said in his postgame press conference. “We weren’t prepared in any area, we didn’t look very good in any area and they beat us from the start to the finish.”

Kentucky committed five penalties for 60 yards, three of those coming very early in the game, making it difficult for the Cats to get any kind of momentum going.

“Lack of discipline,” Stoops said when asked about the penalties. “I just didn’t have them ready for that moment. The moment was too big for some.”

Kentucky once again struggled with the passing game, with Devin Leary going 10-26 for 128 yards and two touchdowns. When asked, Stoops said he wasn’t aware of any issues with Leary health-wise, but said he is concerned about the number of missed throws his starting quarterback made.

“I was a little disappointed myself. Usually, I don’t say a whole lot during a game to a quarterback to not get him off, but there’s no excuse to not hit some of those passes. We had some guys wide open, so you just put that, whether we miss open plays to keep it close early and then you add in the penalties and it gets away from you very quickly.”
