Mark Stoops Teases Additional 2023 Commitments
Kentucky’s work in the 2023 recruiting class is not complete. Typically Mark Stoops does not hold his Signing Day press conference until after every player has submitted a fax into the Joe Craft Football Training Facility. This year he met with the media at noon, only moments after the Wildcats received a fax from four-star South Florida linebacker Jayvant Brown.
“Twenty-two signatures at this point. We do anticipate to work throughout the day to try to get a couple more in a couple of hours or the next couple of days,” Stoops said. “We may have a couple more announcements with some good news.”
There are still a couple of uncommitted targets that are expected to announce decisions Wednesday afternoon. Savannah, GA defensive lineman Tavion Gadson will reveal where he will be attending college at 2 pm ET. Kentucky is the heavy favorite after he decommitted from Florida State following an official visit in Lexington.
The Wildcats are also in the market for a running back. Jamarion Wilcox is one of the most explosive tailbacks in the country. He could reveal a decision during a ceremony this afternoon at South Paulding High School outside of Atlanta, but a specific time is unclear.

When discussing what Vanderbilt transfer Ray Davis is bringing to the Wildcats’ running back room, he alluded to the addition of Wilcox.
“He kind of fits that mold of what we need, that tough, strong, physical guy. But we also wanted some dynamic playmakers as well,” Stoops said. “We’re still working on that position and hopefully sign a very explosive, dynamic high school guy as well.”
The job is not yet complete. Mark Stoops and Co. are still doing some heavy lifting for the Kentucky football program on Signing Day.
