L’Damian Washington spent the 2022 season on the staff at Oklahoma working for new head coach Brent Venables. That time spent in Norman is now showing up at Kentucky. The new wide receivers coach in Lexington has the Cats in mix for one of the best in the Sooner State.

Kentucky was included in the top-10 for Norman (Okla.) North wideout Mason James recently. Now the top-250 prospect and No. 1 player in Oklahoma will make an unofficial visit to the Bluegrass later this month.

Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman reported earlier this week that Missouri (March 18-19), Kentucky (March 28-30), Washington (April 4-6), and Kansas State (April 10-11) will host the 2026 prospect for an unofficial visit over the next month before June official visits get locked in.

Kentucky is still looking for its first commitment in the 2026 high school recruiting cycle. Mason James is currently one of the top-ranked prospects on the board. L’Damian Washington helped Kentucky land Kendrick Law (Alabama) and Tru Edwards (Louisiana Tech) in the transfer portal. Now the new assistant coach is making some waves in his first full cycle as a member of Kentucky’s full-time staff.

Recruiting is expected to heat up this month as the dead period ends and prospects can now hit the road and visit campuses. Mason James will be one of numerous 2026 targets to visit the Joe Craft Football Training Facility over the next month.
