Kentucky is finalist for top-200 OL Mason Short
Recruiting expectations are high for new Kentucky offensive line coach Eric Wolford. The former South Carolina and Alabama assistant has spent the last seven seasons in the SEC and has had produced some promising results on the recruiting trail. Wolford already has Kentucky in the mix for a top-200 recruit in the southeastern footprint.
Evans (Ga.) High junior Mason Short is a top-200 recruit and top-30 player in Georgia. The 2025 prospect is a former Alabama commit who backed off that pledge once Nick Saban retired. Since becoming available, Short’s recruiting market has exploded but Wolford’s relationship with the four-star prospect has the Cats in the hunt.
On Friday, Short released his final four schools. Kentucky is joined by Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State.
“I appreciate the relationship Coach Wolf has built with me in the past years I know his way of coaching and his goal of developing guys into NFL talent, Short told On3. I’m looking forward to building my relationships at Kentucky.”
The next step for Mason Short will be to schedule unofficial visits in March/April before getting official visits locked in over the summer. Wolford has Kentucky in the mix with some other big-time college football programs. There is a long way to go in the 2025 recruiting cycle, but the early returns from Wolford have been promising. Kentucky is dealing out offers and building relationships with some blue-chip prospects.
