WATCH: Matt Jones addresses current state of Kentucky basketball
Kentucky basketball is not in a good spot. Despite have a top-10 offense, John Calipari’s 15th team in Lexington currently looks like one of the worst defensive teams in program history. The Wildcats are also dealing with injuries and just suffered back-to-back home losses. The Cats now have three home losses this season.
This simply has not happened much to Kentucky.
After the 103-92 loss to Tennessee on Saturday night, KSR’s Matt Jones opened the postgame show up with a monologue before taking calls from the Big Blue Nation. Jones discussed how bad the loss was and where Kentucky needs to go from here.
“It was brutal. Most points scored by any team in Rupp Arena since VMI scored, I think 111, against Billy Gillispie. And the most points scored by an SEC opponent in Rupp Arena since 1993. Cats never led. Down the entire game. That’s really doesn’t happen very much in Rupp Arena, either. Where Kentucky never leads in a game,” Jones said. “It was a brutal loss.”

“There are a lot of ways to talk about this game.”
Jones went on to point out that a huge March is coming for this basketball program. If Kentucky is unable to win some games in the postseason, that could create a situation that is not a good situation both for Calipari and the Kentucky fan base. A critical two months is coming down the chimney for this basketball program as the Calipari era has reached another low point.
