Alabama will host blue-chip QB Matt Ponatoski for official visit

Kentucky is still hunting for a quarterback in the 2026 high school recruiting cycle. The most tradition-rich program in the SEC is now coming after a top QB target.
The Wildcats have been linked with Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller star Matt Ponatoski since last summer. Oregon recently entered the chat with offensive coordinator Will Stein leading the charge. The Ducks will get Ponatoski on campus from June 20-22 for an official visit. Alabama will get a trip before that.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong is reporting that Ponatoski will make his way to Tuscaloosa this weekend for an official visit with Kalen DeBoer‘s program.
The four-star quarterback will be at the Elite 11 finals from June 17-19 in Los Angeles. That will be sandwiched around official visits to Alabama and Oregon. During the spring, Ponatoski made multiple official baseball visits. Kentucky got one of those stops. During that trip to Lexington, the Ohio native made his way to see the Joe Craft Football Training Facility.
Matt Ponatoski led Moeller to a state championship as a junior in a year where he threw for over 4,000 yards and 56 touchdowns. That came shortly after a very impressive camp performance at Kroger Field in June. Ponatoski had been committed to Missouri for baseball before re-opening his recruitment.
