Kentucky has been more active in the Mid-Atlantic this high school recruiting cycle. That led to the Cats becoming the first power conference program to show true interest in Malvern (Pa.) Prep linebacker Max Mohring.

The Cats now have some company. UCF has entered the chat.

Scott Frost‘s program offered the unranked prospect on Wednesday and got an official visit scheduled on Friday with linebackers coach — and former Miami defensive coordinator — Mark D’Onorfio leading the recruitment for this Big 12 program. Max Mohring’s first official visit will be to Orlando next weekend.

Kentucky defensive coordinator Brad White offered Max Mohring a scholarship on April 30 and got an official visit scheduled on May 15. Mohring will be in Lexington from June 13-15 for an official visit. The prospect is high school teammates with blue-chip EDGE Jackson Samuels-Ford. Kentucky has been pursuing the four-star recruit for a couple of months and will receive a mid-week visit in June while Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, USC, and Wisconsin are also in pursuit. Mohring will follow his team to Lexington just 10 days later.

Max Mohring has received multiple Ivy League offers from Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, and Princeton. The defensive target recently clocked 11.55 in the 100 meters at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds.

Kentucky has a need at off-ball linebacker in the 2026 recruiting cycle with Alex Afari Jr., Daveren Rayner, and Landyn Watson entering their senior seasons. The recruitment is serious enough with Max Mohring that the Cats are getting him on campus for one of the biggest events of the summer.

A Big 12 vs. SEC recruiting battle could be brewing just outside of Philadelphia.
