Meleek Thomas set to begin official visit with Kentucky this weekend
With No. 10 Kentucky hosting No. 5 Tennessee at Rupp Arena on Saturday, a talented guest will be sitting right behind the Wildcats bench to hopefully soak in a big win for the home team.
Five-star class of 2025 shooting guard Meleek Thomas is set to take his official visit to Kentucky this weekend. The 6-foot-3 Pennsylvania product is expected to arrive in Lexington on Saturday (he has a high school game on Friday night) and stick around through Sunday. Thomas is considered the No. 6 overall high school junior in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking.
Kentucky-Tennessee will tip off on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari has yet to secure a commitment from a class of 2025 prospect, but Thomas is among one of his top targets. Calipari has taken multiple trips to visit Thomas in person over the last several months, most recently in December when he witnessed Thomas drop a triple-double. UK offered him back in April 2023. Calipari’s long-standing ties to the Pittsburgh area will surely play a role in this recruitment, too.

So far, Thomas has taken unofficial visits to Penn State, Pittsburgh, Indiana, and Villanova. He was at Auburn in mid-January for his first junior year official visit. UK will be his second. The Pennsylvania product is down to a Top 12 — which he announced in September — that includes Auburn, Kansas State, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, Tennessee, UConn, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Miami, and Villanova.
On3’s Jamie Shaw reported just last week that the three schools to monitor right now in Thomas’ recruitment are Kentucky, Auburn, and Pittsburgh. Calipari and company will have an opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the five-star in the coming days.
