4-star defensive lineman Micah Carter commits to Purdue
Recruiting momentum is building throughout the college football landscape as schools are now attempting to load up on commitments before the arrival of fall camp. On Tuesday, one of the state’s top prospects announced his future destination.
Louisville (Ky.) St. Xavier defensive lineman Micah Carter will be joining Jeff Brohm’s Purdue program in the Big Ten.
Micah Carter is the No. 399 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. After taking recent visits to both Cincinnati and Louisville, Carter decided to join Brohm at Purdue.
At one point, Kentucky was seen as a primary contender for Micah Carter along with Michigan State as both programs hosted the top-500 recruit for unofficial visits. However, a knee injury last year forced Carter to miss the majority of his junior year. Yet, that did not keep Purdue from putting on the full-court press.

Since Brohm arrived in West Lafayette, the Boilermakers have signed 11 players from Kentucky high schools highlighted by current Arizona Cardinals wideout Rondale Moore. Purdue consistently recruits the Bluegrass State and that will not be changing with Brohm roaming the sidelines at Ross-Ade Stadium. It likely helped that Purdue tight ends/assistant offensive line coach Ryan Wallace is the son of St. Xavier head coach Kevin Wallace.
Kentucky will have to look in other areas to fill defensive line needs. However, we’re still a long way from the December signing day.
