Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson begins visit to Kentucky today
Once John Calipari wraps up his AAU recruiting road trip, he’ll return to Lexington to meet with a highly important visitor.
Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson is expected to arrive on the University of Kentucky’s campus today. The visit will run from Sunday, April 23 through Tuesday, April 25. Dickinson, arguably the top available prospect in the transfer portal, is finishing up his visit to Kansas before making the trip to the Bluegrass. News of his visit to UK first broke on Thursday.
The 7-foot-1, three-time All-Big Ten performer averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game as a junior at Michigan in 2022-23, shooting 56 percent from the field. Sources tell KSR that Kentucky is prepared to accept Dickinson’s commitment if he wants to do so, regardless of what happens with Oscar Tshiebwe and his impending NBA Draft decision.
Dickinson met with the Wildcats via Zoom back on April 5, the first unofficial meeting between Calipari and Dickinson to open the latter’s transfer recruitment. He took an unofficial visit to Lexington back in high school before ultimately signing with the Wolverines.

Additionally, Dickinson revealed on a podcast this week that Calipari flew to Michigan on Tuesday to meet with the star transfer. The meeting lasted two hours at a local private airport.
“Cal flew to Michigan to see me — what day is it today, Thursday? He flew up Tuesday to meet with me in Michigan and he talked to me for like two hours,” Dickinson said. “We literally met at the airport, like the little private airport. Met there, then he flew somewhere else, I don’t know where.”
Dickinson added in the same podcast that he expects to visit Villanova starting this coming Friday. He was in Kansas earlier this weekend and has already taken trips to Maryland and Georgetown. The next few days will be massive for Kentucky’s future frontcourt hopes.
