Midday Crystal Ball check: Illinois the runaway favorite for Mark Smith
Tonight at 7 p.m. ET, four-star shooting guard Mark Smith will announce his decision at his high school in Edwardsville, Illinois. Smith picked up an offer from Kentucky early this month and hosted Duke last week, but Illinois seems to be the overwhelming favorite for the state’s Mr. Basketball. The Fighting Illini have 82% of the predictions in Smith’s Crystal Ball, including all nine in the past week.
Smith visited Illinois over the weekend, and considering he chose to go ahead and set his announcement before taking a trip to Kentucky, I’d say he’s going to stay home. Before you get too depressed, keep in mind that UK landed a commitment from fellow four-star shooting guard Jemarl Baker a few weeks back and Pitt transfer Cam Johnson is on campus for an official visit starting today.
Regardless, we’ll let you know what Smith decides tonight at 7 p.m.
