Kentucky will host a big class of 2025 visitor this weekend when four-star tight end Mikkel Skinner arrives in Lexington for an unofficial visit before another dead period arrives in August. But the Wildcats are not the only SEC program turning up the heat on the Cincinnati commit.

South Carolina entered the chat on Thursday and offered the in-state prospect a scholarship.

Mikkel Skinner is committed to Cincinnati until he isn’t, but this is not the first time that Kentucky and South Carolina have butted heads on the trail for a Palmetto State prospect. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Kentucky made a quick move on Quay’Sheed Scott earning a commitment in July only to see the Gamecocks make a push during the season. Shane Beamer‘s program got an official visit scheduled with the in-state defensive back before Scott ultimately canceled that visit and signed with Kentucky.

Another battle could be on the way as both the Wildcats and Gamecocks are making a late summer push for the Greer (S.C.) Riverside prospect.
