Minnesota Vikings cut Jeremy Flax, place him on Injured Reserve
As the NFL’s 53 August 27th deadline for each team’s 53-man roster quickly approaches, the axes are starting to come out. The latest former Kentucky player to get that undesirable phone call is offensive lineman, Jeremy Flax, as the Minnesota Vikings waived the man affectionately known as “Big Jerm” earlier this week.
Instead of simply cutting him, though, the Vikings tagged him with an injury designation, meaning that because he cleared waivers, he will remain on the team’s Injured Reserve list and must miss the entire 2024 season unless he and the team come to an injury settlement.
The Vikings did not disclose Flax’s injury, however, a physical limitation would help explain why Flax did not play in the team’s preseason games.
Flax went undrafted in the 2024 NFL draft after playing in 36 games at Kentucky, 24 of which he started. Flax participated in the Hula Bowl in January and the Reese’s Senior Bowl in February before attending the NFL Combine.

Last season, Pro Football Focus (PFF) gave him a respectable 75.4 pass block rating, good for second-best among Kentucky’s starters.
Let’s hope Flax’s injury isn’t serious and either the Vikings or another team gives him one more shot in the league.
