Cuonzo Martin tests positive for COVID two days before Kentucky game
Is another Kentucky Basketball game in jeopardy?
Cuonzo Martin, the head coach of Kentucky’s next opponent, announced today he tested positive for COVID. In that same announcement, Martin added his team is “ready to start conference play.”
Missouri is set to play Kentucky in Lexington Wednesday night.
“Encouraging everyone to stay safe during this holiday season. I’ve tested positive for Covid.,” Martin tweeted late Monday afternoon. “Feeling well and thankful for our athletic training staff following protocol and keeping our team healthy. Our program is excited and ready to start conference play.”

Four days ago, the SEC revised its COVID policy to the “seven-and-one” rule, which requires teams to play if they have at least seven scholarship players and one countable coaching staff member available. Martin’s tweet seems optimistic his team will travel without him to Rupp Arena, but with the way things are going, it’s worrisome for that game.
