Mookie Cook, Top 10 2023 Prospect, Includes Kentucky among Finalists
Kentucky is in the hunt for one of the most talented basketball players in America. Tuesday afternoon Mookie Cook shared with On3’s Joe Tipton that he’s down to nine schools. As expected, the Wildcats made the cut. Oregon, Arizona, Gonzaga, Texas Tech, UCLA, Kansas, Michigan and Memphis are also in the mix for the budding superstar.
A 6-foot-7 small forward from Jefferson, Oregon, the five-star prospect is the No. 6 player in the 2023 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus. The Wildcats are currently considered to have an edge in Cook’s recruitment, slightly ahead of the Oregon Ducks.
KSR caught up with Cook at the Hoophall Classic. John Calipari and Jai Lucas are who Cook speaks to the most, but they’re getting extra help from of their own players. TyTy Washington played with Cook last season.

“That’s big bro,” Cook told KSR. “Of course, he came through AZ Compass, he’s always there when he comes home, in the gym working out with us. That’s big bro. He’s breaking records, just broke John Wall’s assist record, doing big things. He’s a diaper dandy. … (TyTy is) a superstar, man.”
With KSR watching from the stands, Cook only missed one shot in a 16-point performance as AZ Compass Prep won 68-46 over National Christian. Enjoy his best moments from the blowout victory.
