Nate Ament down to 5 finalists, schedules commitment date

A decision is on the way for five-star wing Nate Ament.
According to multiple reports, and later confirmed by Ament himself, the 6-foot-9 prospect is down to five finalists: Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Louisville. He also has a commitment date locked in for Tuesday, April 1 at the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Ament is coming off an official visit to UK earlier this month, which was quickly followed by an in-person visit from Wildcats head coach Mark Pope. Kentucky is getting in on this recruitment a bit later than the likes of Duke, Tennessee, and Louisville, but the staff has made up ground quickly and has plenty of time left to convince him to be a ‘Cat.
“Kentucky, I actually just came back from a visit from there but again, Coach Pope, high-character coach,” Ament said on The Youngins Sports Podcast with Jordan Richard. “Not just talking about Xs and Os, but as a person, he’s a high-character guy. That’s something you like to see as a player. But also his offense is one of the best in the nation. He gets up and down the floor, shoots the three very well, seeing that as a versatile player who does all those things is very tempting for sure.”

Ament touched on all five programs in his conversation with Richard. He mentioned John Calipari’s ability to produce NBA players as a reason why Arkansas is in the mix despite also coming into the frame late. He pointed to Duke having recruited him the longest and finding success playing with freshmen. Ament also noted Louisville is first in the Fanstake leaderboard and that Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes coached Kevin Durant back in the day, a player Ament is comparable to.
Duke and Louisville have continued to hold the momentum in this recruitment, but there is still over a month until his announcement. Ament is considered the No. 4 overall recruit in the class of 2025. Kentucky has three commits already locked in for the current cycle with Jasper Johnson, Acaden Lewis, and Malachi Moreno.
