Last night, Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham went off the board in the NBA draft’s first round, going in the top 10 to the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively. Later today, three more Wildcats hope to join Sheppard and Dillingham in the NBA’s 2024 draft class. They are Justin Edwards, Antonio Reeves, and Tre Mitchell, and here is the latest buzz around their second-round potential.

Round 2 will air at 4 p.m. on ESPN and stream live on ESPN.com and the ESPN app. Read the draft order here.

Justin Edwards

Justin Edwards is the first name off the board in the new second-round mock draft at CBSSports.com, the same publication that ranked Edwards No. 1 overall in its draft prospect rankings before the 2023-24 college basketball season began. Now he is the 30th-ranked prospect on that list and CBS projects Edwards to Toronto at No. 31 via a trade with Detroit for the pick.

Over in ESPN’s new Round 2 mock draft, the World Wide Leader predicts Edwards will go No. 42 to the Charlotte Hornets. ESPN ranked Edwards as the 39th-best prospect before the draft.

The Athletic isn’t as high on Edwards after his freshman season at UK. He goes undrafted in the Athletic’s second-round preview.

Antonio Reeves

Before the draft began, draft guru Fran Fraschilla told KSR he wouldn’t be surprised to see Antonio Reeves on an NBA roster next season, even if the former Wildcat goes undrafted. “Antonio is a known commodity. He’s been around forever. He’s gonna get his AARP card soon,” Fraschilla joked. “But quite seriously, one thing Antonio does is he shoots the ball… You guys are quite aware of what he accomplished at Kentucky.”

Over at ESPN.com, the new Round 2 mock draft slots Reeves at No. 50 to the Indiana Pacers. In that scenario, Reeves would join his former Kentucky teammate, Oscar Tshiebwe, in the Pacers organization. Former Wildcat Isaiah Jackson is also in Indiana.

In a Round 2 mock for CBS Sports, Reeves is a Detroit Piston with the 53rd pick. “Detroit has to prioritize shooting at some point, one would think,” writes Kyle Boone.

Sam Vecenie agrees. Vecenie has Reeves at No. 53 in the Athletic’s new mock.

Tre Mitchell

Tre Mitchell is a long shot in today’s second round, ranking as the 85th prospect in the ESPN rankings and going undrafted in the mock drafts. Still, the former Wildcat has draft potential, so don’t count him out in his journey to the league.

“At his best, Mitchell is an all-around offensive weapon who can finish with touch, pass on the move and keep opposing big men honest from the perimeter,” his ESPN scouting report reads. “He doesn’t have great length or explosiveness for NBA purposes, so the consistency with which he can make an impact with his skill and feel will be key to the early part of his pro career.”

Good luck to the Wildcats today in Round 2.
