Where Shaedon Sharpe, TyTy Washington fall in Rookie of the Year odds
The 2022 NBA Draft came and went on Thursday night with a pair of Kentucky players coming off the board in the first round. Now it’s time for 2022-23 preseason projections. That means some gambling odds.
Less than 24 hours after the two-round draft, BetOnline has released Rookie of the Year odds, and the expected favorites are at the top.
- Paolo Banchero (+300)
- Jabari Smith Jr. (+350)
- Chet Holmgren (+575)
- Jaden Ivey (+650)
- Keegan Murray (+900)
- Bennedict Mathurin (+1200)
- Ochai Agbaji (+1600)
- Johnny Davis (+1800)
- Dyson Daniels (+2000)
Despite going off the board at No. 7 overall to the Portland Trail Blazers, Shaedon Sharpe is listed as a longshot (+2800) to win Rookie of the Year. The guard/wing with big-time scoring potential is a real unknown due to the lack of quality game reps. However, the ceiling is unbelievably high as the Western Conference franchise took a big swing.

TyTy Washington was one of the biggest fallers of the night going off of the board at No. 29 overall to the Houston Rockets. The one-and-done has odds to reflect that as the Arizona native is also a longshot (+6600) to win Rookie of the Year. The Kentucky product was the third pick for the Rockets in the first round after the organization took Auburn one-and-done Jabari Smith at No. 3 overall and LSU forward Tari Eason at No. 17. Houston has caught some SEC basketball fever.
Scottie Barnes brought home Rookie of the Year honors last year, and Karl-Anthony Towns is the only Kentucky player to bring home the award. Sharpe and Washington will attempt to be the next when the NBA season gets rolling again in October.
