BBNBA: Sixers thwart Curry, Fox struggles in Cavs loss
To distract from the pain of last night’s loss to the Fighting Irish, let’s talk about what our former ‘Cats did in the NBA yesterday.
Sixers swarm Curry, prevent record
There was a lot of build-up around Steph Curry possibly breaking Ray Allen’s all-time three-point record. He needed 10 makes from deep to break the record but Philly was having none of it. Specifically, Matisse Thybulle was a one-man Curry stopper.
Looks like Steph will have to wait until next game to break the NBA’s three-point record.
Tyrese Maxey had another steady performance as well. He scored 14 on 5-10 shooting, blocked two shots and finished with pair of rebounds and a pair of assists. He isn’t shooting nearly as much as he did when Joel Embiid was out, but he’s remained efficient in a downsized role while the team as a whole is having more success on the court.
Rough weekend for De’Aaron Fox
Sacramento had won three straight heading into Friday’s tilt with Charlotte. That game came down to the wire and De’Aaron Fox missed two free throws late to let the Hornets sneak out with a victory. And yesterday, Sacramento ran into a buzzsaw: the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not even kidding, the Cavs are legit this season and punked the Kings last night.
Fox only mustered 13 points in the loss and the Kings have now dropped back out of the play-in spot, with Karl-Anthony Towns and Minnesota taking over in their place. Oh well, hopefully SAC can get back on track and avoid making NBA history with their 16th straight missed postseason.

Heat hammer Bulls
The Miami Heat made a statement this week with two convincing wins over the Bucks and Bulls, two of the East’s top seeds. And they were missing arguably their two best players in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
That meant a heavy dose of Gabe Vincent and KZ Okpala, who casual NBA fans probably haven’t heard of. Guys named Omer Yurtseven and Max Strus were also issued jerseys and deployed for battle against some of the Eastern Conference’s best.
Tyler Herro also played and played well in the Bulls win. He scored 17 off the bench as the leftover Heat dusted Chicago 118-92 to move to 16-11 on the year.
Check out Herro‘s highlights from the win:
