NCAA files trademark for "Mask Madness"
March Madness is the most wonderful time of year for college basketball fans. With the pandemic expected to last well into 2021 as vaccines are distributed, it’s time to get ready for…MASK MADNESS! This morning, GerbanLaw.com founder Josh Gerben noticed that the NCAA has filed a trademark for “Mask Madness,” presumably for the tournament in March.
The NCAA has filed a trademark for MASK MADNESS.
The filing, made on December 23, indicates the NCAA will:
1. Sell "MASK MADNESS" branded face masks.
2. Start a "MASK MADNESS" public awareness campaign to promote the benefits of wearing a mask.#NCAA #MarchMadness pic.twitter.com/ODTBZykMfk

Last month, the NCAA announced the 2021 tournament will be held in one geographical location, likely Indianapolis, with games being played at various venues. After being forced to cancel the event this past spring, you better believe the organization will do everything it can to hold it in 2021 to recoup the revenue, even if it means making money off a public service announcement.
