Here’s a headline that is so Bullitt County: a Shepherdsville resident called 911 about a Cousin Eddie Christmas display in their neighborhood that they thought was real. The display depicted the famous scene from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” of Eddie emptying out his RV’s septic tank into the storm sewer. You know, the “Merry Christmas. Sh***** was full” one.

“We have a male standing outside,” the 911 dispatcher told officers, per WDRB. “He is naked. He has a robe covering part of his body. He is exposing himself, and he has a hose between his legs.”

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a mannequin in the yard decorated with a robe, hat, cigar, and a beer holding an orange hose. Next to the mannequin was an upturned recliner with a chalk outline of a cat on the bottom and a broken sled, also references to scenes from the movie.

The responding officers reportedly had quite a chuckle at the scene and took some pictures. The owner of the house, Joni Keeney, told WDRB they hoped the display would give their neighbors a laugh, not a scare.

“Everybody has a ‘Cousin Eddie,’ in their family, everybody,” Keeney explained. “I just want people to have a good Christmas and get a laugh.”

Next year, Keeney plans to add Clark Griswold hanging off the gutters to her display. Hopefully, her very concerned neighbor gets the heads up.
