New Kentucky commit Malachi Moreno is 'coming to hang banners'
Malachi Moreno is not short on confidence. The new Kentucky commit — and Mark Pope‘s first of the 2025 class — had plenty of optimistic things to say about the next couple of years. Right after announcing his pledge to UK, he immediately made his pitches to a pair of talented Kentucky targets in five-star Jasper Johnson and four-star Braylon Mullins.
Moreno also explained how his senior season goals at Great Crossing High School (where he elected to stay instead of transferring to prep school) include winning a state championship and Mr. Kentucky Basketball, being named a McDonald’s All-American, and whatever else he can obtain. He has high expectations for himself and his team over the coming months.
But those expectations will be even higher once he reaches Lexington. Moreno is embracing that. To close out his interview with KSR’s Jack Pilgrim following his commitment, Moreno set some lofty goals that will surely have the Big Blue Nation eager to get him on campus sooner rather than later.
“I’m coming to hang banners. Plural. Banners,” Moreno told Pilgrim. “As long as I’m there, we’re winning banners.”
Say no more, my friend. Let’s go hang some more banners in the Rupp Arena rafters.
