The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a new story on Benny Snell and how Snell built his own personal brand prior to arriving in the NFL. It's good stuff. You should read it. Do so here. But as a big attention to detail guy, all I saw when I opened the story was Snell's new UK tattoo: [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1140"] (Photo: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)[/caption] I hadn't seen the UK logo on Snell's left forearm until the Post-Gazette's photo from training camp, and a quick scan of the internets confirms the tattoo is new (although it is the old UK logo). It is yet another reason to love Snell as he moves on to the next phase of his football career. Now back to the story for a moment. It sounds like Snell is already on his way to becoming a fan favorite, just as he was in his three years in Lexington:
He saunters off the field at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, No. 24 jersey off, shoulder pads in hand. Fans, as fans do, yell to him for an autograph, or any sort of attention from the team’s fourth-round draft pick. Snell keeps his head down, but eventually, he breaks into a smile. Usually, that happens right around the time he catches wind of a “Snell Yeah!” and then he simply can't resist. He’ll be signing footballs and posing for photos until he makes his way up the hill, back to the locker room. “I feel like the Steeler Nation’s starting to catch on,” Snell says with a smile, “but when I hear that, that’s when I know they came from the roots.”
