New York Giants see Wan'Dale Robinson as a "special" talent
Everybody needs some good ‘ole vindication in life every once in a while. All of BBN already knew the type of playmaker and person Wan’Dale Robinson became during his short time repping the home state school. It’s just gratifying to see that the national media is starting to catch on even before training camp begins.
Giants gushing over the rookie wideout
In what may end up being seen as an incredibly savvy move by the New York Football Giants, the other iteration of the Big Blue is starting to see special things from the No. 43 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Seen more as a 3rd or 4th round prospect heading into the draft, the Giants taking Robinson was seen as somewhat of a surprise on night two of the draft. Some may call it a reach, but anyone who spent an iota of their attention on Kentucky football this past season knew that New York was getting an impact player from day one.
“Good football player we’ve had our eye on, generator with the ball in his hands, very good run after the catch, very good route runner, can separate. And for what we are going to do offensively, we thought he would be a very good fit for us…” Newly elected General Manager Joe Schoen said back in April. “When we looked at certain players that may be there, he was a guy we thought could potentially be there and we have a very clear vision for the player and look forward to utilizing him.”
Someone doesn’t amass over 100 catches, 1,300 yards and seven touchdowns just by pure luck. Especially at a school that had previously been known as a predominately run-first offense. The Frankfort, KY native went on to smash countless records in his lone season with the Wildcats. Wide Receivers coach Scott Woodward went on the Giants Huddle Podcast to discuss what made him so special in such a short time at Kentucky.

“When you sit down and talk to Wan’Dale, since he’s been drafted or before he was drafted, all these scouts and coaches have always asked me, ‘What makes Wan’Dale so great?’ One thing, the kid is an absolute dog. That’s just on the field. But one thing that really makes him special is anything that I have ever said to that kid, he’s remembered.” He said. “There was never an issue of taking anything I’ve told him or coached on in the meeting room to the field. It was second-hand. You could tell him some little detail about a route or a play, and it’s done on the field. That’s a very special trait to have as a wide receiver. Especially being in a pro-style system I’m assuming the Giants and a bunch of other teams will be running, helped him a bunch and helped him tremendously.”
There’s absolutely little question as to whether Robinson is capable of withstanding pressure-packed, high-level situations. Must we run back the Citrus Bowl tape?
In a receiver room that is in desperate need of a consistent slot target, Wan’Dale Robinson is set to become a key cog in the Giants’ offense from day one. Once again, Big Blue got an offensive playmaker, this time it’s just under the bright lights of New York, which shouldn’t be an issue for the Kentucky product.
