Former Kentucky quarterback Nik Scalzo transfers to Samford
Nik Scalzo has found a new college football home in Alabama. No, it’s not in Tuscaloosa, but it’s still a nice landing spot for the former Wildcat.
Scalzo announced on social media Friday morning that he will be taking his talents to the SoCon to play for the Samford Bulldogs.

A Ft. Lauderdale native, Scalzo suffered an ACL injury in a state championship playoff run during his senior season at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Not long after returning to action, he suffered another knee injury at Kentucky. Scalzo was able to recover and play his was back onto the field for a few snaps in Kentucky’s win over New Mexico State.
Eleven players from Kentucky’s 2019 recruiting class left via the transfer portal. Eight Wildcats have entered the portal since the season ended and Scalzo is the first to find a new home.
