Nik Scalzo withdraws from the transfer portal
Nik Scalzo is back like he never left.
After putting his name in the NCAA transfer portal back on January 6, the redshirt freshman quarterback has reportedly decided to withdraw his name from the portal on Thursday.
Nick Kosko of 247Sports was the first to break the news.

Scalzo is now expected back with the Kentucky football program, where he will likely take over as the team’s third-string quarterback behind Joey Gatewood and Beau Allen, who are set to compete for the starting job in 2021. UK’s previous starter at the position, Terry Wilson, announced he would be entering the transfer portal on Jan. 4.
Scalzo, who signed with Kentucky in the class of 2019, was considered a three-star prospect and rated as the No. 28 dual-threat quarterback in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He originally chose the Wildcats over offers from Harvard, Illinois, Central Michigan, and FAU, among others.
He previously tore his ACL as a senior in high school before suffering a similar injury as a freshman at Kentucky. After back-to-back injuries, UK head coach Mark Stoops announced last preseason that he would sit out the entirety of the 2020 season to rehab the knee and regain strength and confidence before returning to action in 2021.

Now, it appears Kentucky has its three key rotation quarterbacks for 2021, with three-star freshman quarterback Kaiya Sheron holding firm as the team’s fourth-string option.
Welcome back, Nik.
