A clear argument can be made that North Carolina was the best job to become available this coaching carousel cycle. The Tar Heels were in position to land a top target in the market. The decision makers in Chapel Hill ended up doing something no one saw coming.

Bill Belichick will be roaming a college football sideline for the first time in his professional career. The former New England Patriots head coach will attempt to treat the ACC like he did the AFC East for decades. The Hoodie is now a Tar Heel.

Inside Carolina is reporting that “North Carolina is finalizing a contract to land Bill Belichick as its next football coach.” What a sport.

On Tuesday, Ollie Connolly reported that Bill Belichick presented the North Carolina administration with an “organizational bible” that detailed how he would run the program and what the university would need to do to support the football program.

What a turn of events and a short in the arm for the Atlantic Coast Conference. Give us a Week 1 matchup against Clemson and Dabo Swinney immediately.

Can the man who won six Super Bowl championships with Tom Brady at quarterback bring ACC titles and College Football Playoff berths to Chapel Hill? No one really knows but it will be fascinating to watch as the cut-off hoodie sweatshirts will now be Carolina Blue.

A search that started with Jon Sumrall and Matt Campbell ends with Bill Belichick. This could end up being many things but it most certainly will not be boring.
