Northwestern Transfer Nigel Glover to Visit Kentucky
One program’s pain could be Kentucky’s gain. Nigel Glover was the first to defect following the Northwestern hazing scandal. Now the former Wildcat is interested in potentially becoming a Kentucky Wildcat.
Kentucky Sports Radio has learned Nigel Glover will take an official visit to Kentucky beginning Tuesday, July 25. The visit is taking place eight days after he entered the transfer portal. A Dayton, Ohio native, Vince Marrow recruited Glover during his time at Northmont High School. He shared news of his UK scholarship offer back in January of 2022.
A 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker, Nigel Glover was the headliner of the highest-ranked recruiting class Pat Fitzgerald ever signed at Northwestern. On3 ranked Glover as the No. 239 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class. The four-star prospect is the No. 31 linebacker in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
Kentucky is the first school to host the talented linebacker for an official visit, but as has been the case for most UK football recruits as of late, Michigan is lurking. The Wolverines are also lobbying for Glover to officially visit Ann Arbor.

How Nigel Glover could fit at Kentucky
Kentucky has been in the market for added depth at linebacker this offseason. A year after reserves Trevin Wallace and D’Eryk Jackson were forced to start for almost half the season due to Super Senior injuries, Kentucky received some much needed help from the portal in the spring from Northern Illinois Daveren Rayner.
Thanks to some late attrition, Kentucky has scholarship capital available to get the best available players. Fortunately, a player at a position of need that has a previously established relationship with Mark Stoops’ coaching staff is now on the market. Tre Mitchell fell into John Calipari’s lap thanks to some bizarre circumstances. History could repeat itself as Nigel Glover takes a closer look at the Kentucky football program this week.
