Ryan Day won a National Championship in January. Eight months later, the Ohio State head coach was hanging out at a Kentucky high school football game. Huh?

Some Kentucky Fan Fiction might speculate that he’s scouting out a horse farm to live on for when he ultimately decides to supplant Mark Stoops. A more reasonable person would wonder what player Ohio State was recruiting, then ask if Kentucky coaches were there for the game too.

Day’s trip to Kentucky did not include ulterior motives. He made a 3-hour drive to watch his son play football.

George Rogers Clark hosted St. Francis DeSales in Winchester. The private school in Columbus is quarterbacked by RJ Day, the Ohio State head coach’s son. Day threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns to propel the visitors to a 35-21 victory over GRC.

The younger day is a 2027 talent, ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals. After throwing for 1,425 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore, Day picked up a handful of offers from MAC schools, while Syracuse and Boston College through their hats in the ring over the summer.

New Fields at Historic Louisville Schools

Better late than never. JCPS peeled off the grass to create new turf fields at numerous public schools around the city of Louisville. Male’s Maxwell Stadium and Historic Manual Stadium were supposed to have new fields in the summer of 2024. They got finished a month into the 2025 season.

No. 17 Male did not give their new turf a proper christening. Top-ranked Trinity made the trip to Preston Highway and ran all over the playing surface. Zane Johnson threw three touchdowns while the Rocks limited Male to only five first downs in a 46-0 romp.

No. 9 Manual hit the road on Friday night in a matchup of Top-10 teams and blew up the scoreboard. Facing No. 8 Cooper, the Crimson went off to the races in a 59-24 victory. That’s one heck of a statement. They’ll reopen Manual Stadium next Friday night against Bullitt East.
