Ohio State transfer Darrion Henry-Young commits to KENTUCKY
Kentucky found itself a potential replacement for Josh Paschal. On Monday morning, Ohio State defensive lineman Darrion Henry-Young announced on social media that he will transfer to the University of Kentucky. He’ll have four years of eligibility remaining.
Henry-Young was in Lexington over the weekend for a visit where he attended the Men’s Basketball team’s win over Georgia at Rupp Arena. He initially put his name in the transfer portal back on Dec. 20 before committing to Kentucky.
Henry-Young is a former four-star prospect and top 200 recruit from the class of 2020. The Cincinnati, OH native is listed at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, playing four total games across two seasons for Ohio State. He eventually redshirted his freshman year with the Buckeyes and did not register any statistics on the Buckeyes defense as a sophomore.

Kentucky was one of Henry-Young’s six finalists back in the spring of 2019 before ultimately choosing OSU. He was also considering Cincinnati, LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee.
The Wildcat defense has been looking for one more big defensive end to rotate with Tre’vonn Rybka in its 3-4 defense. Henry-Young is similar to Tyler Baron, the Tennessee defensive lineman that jumped in and out of the portal this week. Each were big-time four-star recruits in the 2020 recruiting class that considered Kentucky through the late stages of their recruitments. UK did not burn bridges though and now Henry-Young is a ‘Cat.
Welcome to the movement, Darrion!
