OL Isaac Sowells Jr. planning return trip to Kentucky following Saturday's visit

Isaac Sowells Jr. was on Kentucky’s campus for a camp earlier in the summer, but Saturday was his first true visit experience with the Wildcats. It won’t be his last, either.
Sowells is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound offensive lineman who suits up for Louisville (KY) Male, which is slotted at No. 5 in KSR’s updated statewide high school rankings. The class of 2025 prospect is considered a three-star recruit by the folks over at 247Sports and Rivals. Sowells holds offers from the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, South Carolina, Wake Forest, NC State, and West Virginia, along with a few more from smaller non-Power Five programs.
During Sowells’ trip to Lexington over the weekend, he was treated to the full gameday experience by the UK staff. He toured the facilities, went through a photoshoot, walked the field prior to the game against Ball State (a 44-14 Kentucky win), and talked plenty with head coach Mark Stoops and associate head coach Vince Marrow, the latter filling in as his primary recruiter.
“He texts me every week about our games,” Sowells told KSR about Marrow. “He likes to be very personable when talking with me. He’s always texting how I’m doing and things like that.”
Sowells has also grown close with freshman defensive back Ty Bryant in recent months, who has been the one guiding him whenever he’s on campus.

“I really like the culture,” Sowells added. “I really like how engaged the fan base is. Even though it was Ball State, the stadium was still packed. I like Coach (Zach) Yenser and Coach Drake (Jackson), they make me feel really wanted. I like Coach Stoops. Coach Stoops seems like a really good guy and someone I could see myself playing for.”
On the field, Sowells prefers the center position, but he’s being moved around on Male’s offensive line this season due to his positional versatility. He’s also sharing time at right tackle for the Bulldogs. Kentucky is recruiting him primarily as a center, though. His father, Isaac Sowells Sr., is a former player for the Indiana Hoosiers and later the NFL’s Cleveland Browns before taking over as Male’s offensive line coach.
As for his recruitment as a whole, Kentucky is among the early schools standing out. Sowells tells KSR that a return to Lexington is already in the works. He intends to come back for the Wildcats’ showdown against Alabama on Nov. 11. But outside of that, Sowells will head to Louisville (Thursday), NC State (this weekend), and West Virginia (next weekend) in the near future before taking visits to Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and others later on in the fall.
When it comes to a decision timeline, Sowells says he would like to take all of his official visits before making a commitment. The current goal is to knock those out next summer and then announce his choice in August. He plans to early enroll at whichever school he lands with.
