Ole Miss started the season playing on easy mode. Lane Kiffin has been cooking with grease, lighting up the Rebels’ first four opponents with a 49.5-point average margin of victory. We throw around the phrase “video game offense” far too often, but it’s the only way to describe what Ole Miss has been doing.

To be clear, this video game is on “easy mode.” Even Kiffin acknowledged that Ole Miss’ first four opponents did not prepare them for the rigors of SEC play. Nevertheless, the numbers are the numbers and they are stupefying. Here are just a few of the jaw-dropping statistics.

Ole Miss Offensive Stats

In year three under Kiffin, Jaxson Dart is flawlessly executing the Rebels’ offense. He leads the nation in passing yards per game (388.5) and ranks second in completion (79.8%). That’s just the start for this offense.

Points Per Game: 55 (No. 1 overall)
Yards Per Game: 670.8 and 8.85 yards per play (No. 1)
Passing Yards Per Attempt: 11.8 (No. 1)
Rushing Yards Per Game: 248 (No. 12)
Receiving Yards: 628 yards (No. 2) and four touchdowns for Tre Harris
Plays per Game: 75.75 (No. 7)
Third Down Conversions: 55.8% (No. 7)
Offensive Success Rate: 55.5% (No. 1)

The explosive play statistics are comedy. Ole Miss has 100 plays of 10+ yards or more. It’s a dozen more than second place. They rank second in 30+ yard plays (17) and 40+ yard plays (9).

They also rank near the top of one statistical category that isn’t music to Kiffin’s ears. The Rebels commit 8.3 penalties per game, the 17th-most in college football. See, they aren’t so perfect after all.

Ole Miss Defensive Stats

You may just think of their high-flying offense, but the Rebels have only allowed one touchdown all season and that didn’t happen until week four.

Opponent Points Per Game: 5.5 (No. 1)
Opponent Rushing Yards Per Game: 34.5 (No. 1) 1.11 yards per carry
Opponent Yards Per Play: 3.5 (t-4th)
Run Defense Success Rate: 22.2% (No. 1)
Opponent Punts: 31 (No. 2)
Havoc Rate: 19.1% (No. 2)
Third Down Defense: 21.8% (No. 5)

Ole Miss is creating a turnover or tackle for loss on almost 20% of its snaps. They’ve forced about eight punts per game and have only allowed opponents to convert on 14 of 64 third down attempts. It’s silly.
