Ole Miss Transfer Keidron Smith Sets Decision Date

The top available defensive back in the transfer portal will soon reveal his next collegiate destination. The Kentucky Wildcats are top candidates to win the Keidron Smith transfer portal sweepstakes.
The former Ole Miss defensive back revealed on social media that he will be committing to his next school this Friday. Smith did not disclose a time for his decision, but it’s safe to assume it will be shared on his social media accounts in the afternoon around lunchtime.
Keidron Smith entered the transfer portal in January. Throughout the spring semester he officially visited spring practices at Indiana, Missouri, Kentucky and most recently, Virginia Tech. 247 Sports ranks Smith as the No. 3 available player in the transfer portal. Smith is the No. 79 cornerback to enter the transfer portal this offseason, according to On3 Sports.

A 6-foot-2, 215-pound athlete from South Florida, the former low three-star prospect played in 45 games during his four-year career at Ole Miss. During that time he racked up 224 career tackles, eight for tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and five interceptions. Smith started his career at cornerback, then switched to safety last season to record career highs in every major statistical category.
Mark Stoops’ Kentucky football team needs experience in the secondary, particularly at cornerback. The Cats could also use some help at nickel after Vito Tisdale suffered a season-ending injury during spring practice. A playmaker with size and positional versatility, Keidron Smith could check both boxes for Kentucky this fall.
