After France defeated Canada this morning in the Philippines we have our 2016 Olympic basketball field set. The US with DeMarcus Cousins likely to be a major player on the team will be in Group A with Serbia, Venezuela, France, China and Australia. Group B will be Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Lithuania, Croatia and Nigeria.
I personally love international basketball and caught most of the qualifying games these past couple of days. It's absolutely insane how much the talent across the world has grown, as the games were extremely competitive and more importantly well-played. The Italy-Croatia game especially stuck out, which saw a couple of NBA players go at it.
France was led by Tony Parker this morning in the win over Canada, who I believe will be the next great threat to the US in basketball. Unfortunately Canada wasn't at full strength with Andrew Wiggins not playing, but in four years we should see Jamal Murray and Kyle Wiltjer playing for them.
