Oscar Tshiebwe is a Second Team AP All-American

Oscar Tshiebwe is an All-American, again.
The Kentucky forward was named a Second Team All-American by AP Top 25 poll voters. Last year the National Player of the Year was a Consensus First-Team selection.
Oscar Tshiebwe is the 12th player under John Calipari to earn All-America honors by one of the four major organizations. Earlier this offseason he received Third Team All-American honors from the Sporting News.
For the second straight season Oscar Tshiebwe is the nation’s leading rebounder, tallying 13.1 boards per game. He also is scoring a team-high 16.5 points per game. He leads the SEC with 19 double-doubles, including six games with 20+ points and 15+ rebounds.
This season he also surpassed 1,000 career points at Kentucky, the first Wildcat to reach that milestone since 2012. In only two seasons he ranks in the top ten in rebounding in school history. Tshiebwe currently is eighth with 909 rebounds, only one behind Chuck Hayes.

This postseason Oscar Tshiebwe was also named First Team All-SEC by the league’s coaches and the AP. He is a finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, the Wooden Award and Naismith Player of the Year.
The Kentucky forward was one of only two players from the SEC to earn AP All-American honors, joining first teamer Brandon Miller from Alabama. Kentucky could face two third teamers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson suit up for No. 3 seed Kansas State, the Wildcats’ first All-Americans since Jacob Pullen in 2011.
