Oscar Tshiebwe loves the kids, hopes to be an example for young Kentucky fans
Need another reason to love Oscar Tshiebwe? Of course you don’t. There are already plenty of reasons to love Oscar Tshiebwe, from his contagious joy to his gratitude for everything or the way he has dominated for Kentucky Basketball so far this season.
Big Oscar is awesome. He’s already among the all-time favorites to many fans throughout Big Blue Nation, and his comments following a 30-point night on the road will only add to the long list of Tshiebwe’s heartwarming moments to date.
After the win at Vanderbilt, he was asked about last weekend’s game when he stayed on the Rupp Arena floor to sign autographs for several fans. Normally, fans are lucky to play catch with John Calipari for a signed ball during Calipari’s radio interview. But after the Georgia game, a line formed for Tshiebwe’s autograph and he stuck around to fulfill every request.

Looking back on that moment and why he volunteered to do it, Tshiebwe said, “Those fans, we gotta do whatever we gotta do for them because without them, we can’t do anything. Like today, that gym was packed. I thought this gym was going to be packed with Vandy fans, but it was not Vandy, it was our fans. If they sacrifice everything to follow us wherever we go, we have to do something for them so we cannot just get up and go when people need something, especially little kids.
“I love spending time with little kids,” he continued. “I can do anything for those kids because they’re coming to the game; we are the examples for what we do, because they want to do that too one day so we gotta show them good things so when they grow up they can follow our good examples.”
Oscar Tshiebwe is a pretty good example to follow. Now he is a Player of the Year candidate, too.
