A trio of Tarblooders will head to Lexington in June.

Glenville (OH) High School teammates Damarion Witten (4-star TE) and D’Shawntae Jones (3-star RB) have already locked in official visits with Kentucky for the weekend of June 9-11. We can add another class of 2024 prospect from the Cleveland-based program to the list.

Offensive tackle Fred Johnson tells KSR that he’ll join his teammates that same weekend for his own official visit to UK. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound rising senior will make his third trip to check out what the Wildcats’ have to offer. He last visited in late March to watch spring practice when he met with associate head coach Vince Marrow and offensive line coach Zach Yenser.

Johnson left that short trip impressed with what he saw and has now locked in an official visit for an extended stay. He’ll then take an OV to Louisville the weekend of June 16-18.

“It was fun. It was good. I enjoyed my time down there,” Johnson told KSR about his March visit to UK. “I’ve been in touch with Vince for a while. We’re talking again. He’s a good dude, a really good dude. I like him.”

Kentucky was just the second Divison I offer for Johnson, which he received over a year ago in April 2022. Nearby Toledo was his first scholarship. Since then, he’s earned additional offers from the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Louisville. The Nittany Lions and Volunteers are standing out so far from that group, but only the Wildcats and Cardinals have set up official visits at this stage.

Although Johnson isn’t ranked in the class of 2024 by On3, he’s considered a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals. He’s primarily being recruited to play left tackle or left guard at the college level, with some programs also showing interest in him on the defensive line.
