Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh is having a career year in his first season at Kentucky. The junior wing has set career highs in points (16.2), rebounds (4.6), assists (1.6), two-point field goal percentage (.526), free throw percentage (.776), and minutes (28.1). Oweh should receive some All-SEC recognition. The former Sooner has been a terrific transfer pickup for the Wildcats.

In Kentucky’s 91-83 road victory over Missouri on Saturday, Oweh recorded his 11th game with at least 20 points this season. Once again, most of the damage occurred in the second half.

Otega Oweh scored 20 of his game-high 22 points after the break on Saturday. Two-point shooting (4-of-14) was an issue but the wing poured in two threes in a game for the first time in over a month. Oweh reached double-digit free throw attempts (10) for the third time this season. The junior had a big second half.

This is becoming a trend.

In Kentucky’s 83-82 win over Oklahoma on Feb. 26, Otega Oweh scored 23 of his 28 points after the halftime break. The downhill driver scored UK’s final 18 points in the victory. Oweh scored 12 of 20 points in the second half against Texas on Feb. 15. Oweh scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half against South Carolina on Feb. 8. Oweh had 17 of his 21 points against Vanderbilt on Jan. 25.

The list goes on after that.

Otega Oweh has been a second half warrior for Kentucky all season and has played a big role in some of the big performances we’ve seen from Mark Pope‘s first team after half all season. Do not be surprised if we get a couple more big second half performances from Oweh in the postseason.

The junior is a true bucket after halftime.
