Otega Oweh Shows Off New Number After Arriving on Campus
It’s a new day, which means it’s a great day to welcome a new Kentucky Wildcat to campus. We’re on about a one-player-a-day pace in the first week of June and the latest arrival is Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh.
Oweh received a warm welcome from a couple of his new Kentucky teammates, Andrew Carr and Kerr Kriisa.
It did not take long for Oweh to find the gym. Before Kentucky could even share the following social media posts, Oweh snapped a photo of his locker and added it to his Instagram story. He’ll rock No. 00 for the Wildcats. The double-zero was made famous by Tony Delk and has only been worn by one scholarship contributor since, Marcus Lee.
Oweh is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Somerset, New Jersey. He spent the first two seasons of his college career at Oklahoma. Last season he started in 28 of 32 games, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 49.3% from the floor and 37.7% from three-point land.

Just a few days before packing up to move to Lexington, Oweh had a candid one-on-one conversation with Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ about his future in Lexington.
“Shoot, it’s Kentucky. You’ve gotta win,” Oweh said. “We’re trying to get to that tournament and make a deep, deep run in that tournament. We want to win that SEC championship as well. We’re going to continue to show up, regardless of who’s coaching, regardless of the talent that’s there. We’re going to win and we’re going to be one of the better teams in the country.”
