Friday is Kentucky Football‘s Media Day at Kroger Field when Mark Stoops opens the doors to his program for a couple of hours so the media can have conversations for their preseason coverage. KSR will be there with an entire team of live radio, podcasts, written stories, videos, and more. So get ready for a flood of football content incoming.

In the meantime, we wait out one last day of the quiet season with a look back at past Media Day stars and antics. These are some of KSR’s Kentucky Football Media Day All-Stars.

Cory “Poop” Johnson

Early in the Mark Stoops era, Cory Johnson, a defensive lineman out of JUCO, reached Media Day legend status and it is unlikely he will ever lose his place atop the Media Day throne. That’s because Johnson left everyone speechless when he told Alan Cutler how frequently he visited the throne.

“I poop a lot,” Johnson confessed in the single greatest Media Day interview of all time. “I try to poop like five times a day, three times a day; it’s hard to keep weight when you have so much going out.”

The interview made an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that night, but LEX 18 has since pulled it from the internet.

Chris Oats

Last year, Chris Oats made a surprise appearance at what would’ve been his final fall camp if not for the career-ending stroke he suffered in May of 2020. The former linebacker posed with his fellow senior teammates on Photo Day, a special moment for the 22-year-old and the UK program.

Freddie Maggard

Also from last year, the “Freddie Cam” debuted when Freddie Maggard was followed around the player interview session. Kentucky’s old QB1 met Will Levis for the first time, in addition to fun conversations with Jordan WrightKenneth HorseyLa’Vell Wright, and Dane Key.

Freddie’s the best.

Max Duffy

Another KSR personality on the Media Day All-Star list is Max Duffy, the former Ray Guy winner at the University of Kentucky. Duffy’s media career was launched at Media Day 2019 when he sat down with KSR for the first time, joining Ryan Lemond and Drew Franklin on a live show from Kroger Field prior to the start of his Ray Guy season.

Some three years later, Duffy rejoined KSR for a live Media Day broadcast, this time as a podcaster in his post-football life. Mark Stoops called him a “buttwipe” during Stoops’ sit-down with the show.

Vince Marrow

It’s no surprise that Vince Marrow is always a popular man at Media Day. The Big Dog is often seen cutting up with his players, like in 2017 when he found himself in a rap battle with Benny Snell before Snell’s first All-SEC season.

Marrow also confessed his love for Elton John’s music in a radio interview with KSR at Media Day ’19.

DeAndre Square

Square earned All-Media Day honors from KSR because it became a tradition to learn Square’s new jersey number each year. A member of UK’s 300 Tackle Club, Square had a new number at his first three Media Days, finally committing to the No. 5 after his junior year.
