Penn State de-commit Neeo Avery schedules visit to Kentucky
A one-time Kentucky target has reopened his recruitment and the Wildcats have been quick to get involved again.
Neeo Avery, a four-star class of 2023 EDGE out of Good Counsel (MD), has scheduled an official visit to Kentucky for June 17, he tells KSR. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect recently de-committed from Penn State on March 27, where he had been a commit since Dec. 31, 2021. Kentucky was one of the top schools originally involved with Avery before he chose the Nittany Lions — he took a visit to Lexington for UK’s matchup on Nov. 6 against Tennessee.
Defensive coordinator Brad White is serving as the primary recruiter for Avery, who is ranked as the No. 196 junior in the country, according to the On3 Consensus.
Since his announcement to de-commit from Penn State on Sunday, Avery has picked up scholarships from the likes of Southern California, Miami (FL), UConn, North Carolina, Louisville, and Jackson State. Prior to his commitment, he held offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, and Arkansas. Kentucky initially offered Avery in May 2021.

According to On3‘s recruiting expert Chad Simmons, Avery mentioned Kentucky and Ole Miss as the two schools showing the most interest since his de-commitment. Miami (FL) and Southern California have also begun getting more seriously involved. Additionally, Georgia was one of the original finalists, along with UK and Penn State.
Kentucky actually has a recent history of snagging four-star EDGE prospects who de-commit from Penn State. Incoming Wildcat freshman Tyreese Fearbry backed off his commitment to the Nittany Lions in July 2021 before choosing the ‘Cats a few months later in September.
