PGA Championship Leaderboard: Field is chasing Xander Schauffele after round one
Xander Schauffele has been one of the best golfers in the world for a few years now. The 30-year-old is the No. 3 ranked player in the world and owns seven PGA Tour wins highlighted by the 2017 Tour Championship and a 2022 Genesis Scottish Open title. Schauffele won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics and has logged 12 top-10 finishes in 27 major championship starts. The only thing missing is that major championship.
That major title could finally come this weekend at Valhalla Golf Club.
Schauffele shot a bogey-free 62 on Friday to tie a 24-year old major championship record for lowest round. With nine birdies and nine pars on the card, Schauffele signed a nine-under card and currently has a three-shot lead heading into round two.
