Point Spread, Opening Line for Kentucky at Mississippi State
Following the most dominant victory of the year, Kentucky is hitting the road to Starkville where they’ll try to finish 2-0 against the Bulldogs in the 2023-24 season. Can the Wildcats continue to build momentum, or will Mississippi State enjoy a little revenge? We’ll find out tomorrow night at The Hump for a 7 pm EST tip-off on ESPN.
Ahead of the SEC showdown, the Las Vegas oddsmakers have handicapped the game. Kentucky is a 2.5-point underdog against Mississippi State, according to FanDuel. The total is 157.5 and you can bet the Cats on the Moneyline at +128. KenPom predicts a 79-77 Mississippi State victory, while ESPN’s BPI only gives Kentucky a 40.1% chance to bring home a win from the road trip to Starkville.
The last time these two teams met, John Calipari logged his 400th win as the Kentucky head basketball coach, a 90-77 victory. Kentucky sprinted out to an 18-point lead at halftime thanks to an impressive night from Antonio Reeves. He scored 27 points on only two made three-pointers, while Rob Dillingham chipped in 16 off the bench. Tolu Smith ate in the paint, tallying 26 points and grabbing eight boards for the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State has found its stride as of late, albeit against teams at the bottom of the SEC standings. They’ve won five straight games and covered the spread in four of them. Kentucky has been almost as good against the spread over the last two weeks, covering in three of their last four contests.
