POINT SPREAD: Opening Line for Kentucky vs. Tennessee

Two weeks after taking down Tennessee in Knoxville, Kentucky is going for a sweep. Will the Cats bring brooms to Rupp Arena? Las Vegas has weighed in on Tuesday night’s SEC matchup in Lexington.
Kentucky opens as a 1.5-point underdog at home. The total has been set at 146.5. The Cats were also ‘dogs when they beat the Vols in Knoxville. Last week’s loss at Ole Miss was Mark Pope’s first loss as an underdog at Kentucky.
In a rare occurrence, the computers are completely in sync. Bart Torvik and KenPom predict a 74-72 Tennessee win over Kentucky.
Tennessee is 20-4, currently fifth in the SEC standings, and 16-9 Against the Spread (ATS). In the last four games that the Vols have failed to cover, the game has also gone over. They’re at their best in low-scoring affairs.
Kentucky is 12-11 ATS this year, including a 3-2 mark at home in SEC play. The under hit in Saturday’s victory over South Carolina. The Cats previously had three straight overs, dating back to the victory over the Vols in Knoxville. Kentucky totals have gone over in nine of the last 15 games at Rupp Arena.

Lamont Butler did not play in the last game against Tennessee. It was the first of three absences for the Kentucky point guard. He returned to action against South Carolina and recorded eight points, three assists, and three turnovers in 23 minutes. His matchup against Zakai Zeigler on Tuesday night will be an exciting one to watch.
