Projected Completion Date of Renovated Nutter Field House

Mark Stoops has not been too shy to share his feelings about the Nutter Field House. His wish for an updated indoor facility is finally being granted.
Built in the early 90s, the Nutter Field House is dated, particularly the turf. When weather forces the football team inside, they are limited in what they can. To avoid injuries, quarterbacks do not operate under center. The track that encompasses the football field also does not make it regulation size. Kentucky is the last football program in the SEC without a full 120-yard indoor field.
That is all changing after spring practice. UK Athletics shared an update with construction crews on south campus. The new Jim Green Indoor Track and Field Center will be adjacent to the outdoor track facility at the site of the old Cliff Hagan Stadium. The goal for that project is to be complete by the end of the 2023 calendar year.

As for the football team, logistics are less constraining for a quick turn-around. Construction crews will begin ripping up the surface of the Nutter Field House at the conclusion of spring practice in April. It’s expected to be complete before fall camp begins in August.
Mitch Barnhart receives a lot of criticism from fans and folks here at KSR for a variety of reasons. One thing is undeniable, UK’s athletic director has dramatically improved the athletic facilities on campus throughout his two decades in Lexington.
