Projected first-round pick Georgia Amoore invited to 2025 WNBA Draft

Georgia Amoore is headed to the Big Apple next week as she looks to officially start her professional career.
Amoore has been invited to attend Monday’s 2025 WNBA Draft at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City. A superstar guard for Kentucky women’s basketball this past season, the native of Australia is expected to hear her name called in the first round. ESPN’s mock draft from Friday morning has Amoore going ninth overall to the Los Angeles Sparks.
Amoore’s college career came to a close less than three weeks ago but with the 2025 WNBA season beginning in May, it’ll be a quick turnaround for the talented floor general.
As a fifth-year senior in her only season as a Wildcat, Amoore was named to several All-American Teams. The 5-foot-6 point guard averaged 19.6 points, 6.9 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and one steal in 36.7 minutes per outing. Across 31 games played under head coach Kenny Brooks in 2024-25, Amoore shot a career-high 42.3 percent from the field, 33.6 percent from deep, and 83.7 percent from the free throw line.

Amoore set plenty of records during her time in Lexington. Notably, her 43-point performance against Oklahoma in February was tied for the most in school history. By finishing her college career with 2,460 points and 869 assists, the Virginia Tech transfer becomes the third player ever to reach at least 2,300 points and 800 assists, joining an impressive list that includes Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu.
If Amoore ends up being selected in one of the three rounds (38 total picks), she’d be the first Wildcat to get drafted since Rhyne Howard went No. 1 to the Atlanta Dream in 2022. The 2025 WNBA Draft is set for Monday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
