One of the most talented Kentucky quarterback targets in the 2023 recruiting class is back on the market. Chris Parson announced on social media Tuesday evening that he has reopened his recruitment, decommitting from Florida State.

Chris Parson is a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 16 quarterback in America according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks the Brentwood, Tn. native as the No. 5 player from the Volunteer State.

Parson committed to Florida State in the summer of 2021 not long after the Seminoles’ coaching staff but on the full-court press at an unofficial visit in Tallahassee. Even though he remained committed to Mike Norvell’s program, the Elite 11 participant still visited other schools. Over the summer he officially visited SMU and and Mississippi State before using his official to Florida State. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) currently gives Mike Leach’s program a better than 44% chance to flip Parson.

Kentucky’s Role in Parson’s Recruitment

Parson was one of a handful of targets Liam Coen targeted and actively pursued during his first summer on the recruiting trail. Just because Coen is gone, it does not mean all of Parson’s ties to Kentucky are eliminated. Wide receivers coach Scott Woodward has ties to Central Tennessee and was a part of the recruiting process. He also just so happened to Tweet this out recently. Interesting timing.

Kentucky was seemingly out of quarterback options in the 2023, until now. There also aren’t too many QB candidates remaining in 2024. Regardless of what happens with Parson, the Cats will still scour the transfer portal for a passer this offseason. It may be a long shot for Kentucky to flip Parson from Florida State, but the first step has been initiated.
