QB Stone Saunders reaffirms commitment with Kentucky
It took just one day after Kentucky’s season finale loss to Louisville for bad news to trickle in. The Wildcats have already lost two 2025 commits on Sunday (and the coaching scoop is plentiful over on KSBoard), but there is at least some positive news to close out the night.
Three-star quarterback Stone Saunders reaffirmed his commitment to Kentucky through social media. A user on X/Twitter sent out a post tagging Saunders that read “Only a matter of time before @Stone_Saunders8 gives us the news”, referring to a possible decommitment. Less than 15 minutes later, Saunders replied simply with #BBN and a picture of himself in full Kentucky gear from a prior visit to Lexington.
Saunders has been committed to Kentucky since August 2023. Originally recruited by former offensive coordinator Liam Coen, the Pennsylvania product has stayed solid with the ‘Cats ever since. Saunders is ranked as the No. 737 overall high school senior in the country.
Keeping Saunders in the fold will be significant for the program regardless of what lies ahead in the future. He’s one of two quarterbacks from the 2025 class locked in (three-star Brennen Ward from Ohio the other) and recently broke the state of Pennsylvania’s all-time record for passing touchdowns. Saunders chose UK over the likes of Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, and Miami (FL).

Kentucky lost four-star running back Marquise Davis (Missouri) and three-star IOL Tucker Kattus (Clemson) on Sunday, but at least Saunders, one of the Wildcats’ top-ranked recruits, is planning to stick around — for now, at least. UK is now down to 19 commits in this cycle, good enough for 26th-best in the nation and 13th-best in the SEC.
The early signing period runs from Dec. 4-6. Saunders putting pen to paper during that time would be the ultimate assurance that he’s locked in with the ‘Cats. We’ll have to wait and see.
