With the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby around the corner, Netflix released its new series on horse racing’s Triple Crown to get you into the spirit for the first Saturday in May. Now available to stream on Netflix, “Race For The Crown” takes viewers behind the scenes at places like Churchill Downs and Keeneland, offering an insider’s look at the sport during its busiest stretch of the year.

Produced by the same team behind “Formula 1: Drive To Survive,” the new sports docuseries premiered today, April 22, with all six episodes available at once for horse racing enthusiasts. The early reviews suggest that it tells the stories of the people in horse racing, not the horses, with profiles of notable racing figures like owners Mike Repole and John Stewart, former baseball star Jayson Werth, jockey Katie Davis, and Lexington’s own Kenny McPeek, who trained the 2024 Kentucky Derby winner, Mystik Dan.

So, if you’re into horse racing or have an ounce of Kentucky in your blood–and have a Netflix subscription–check out “Race For The Crown” before the Run For The Roses on May 3. The six-episode sports docuseries tells the story of Kentucky’s iconic horse race with a never-before-seen look at what goes into preparing and running in “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.”

“The racing world is full of colorful and controversial characters — including billionaire business tycoons and horse-doping trainers — which leads to plenty of intense rivalries fueled by million-dollar investments and insatiable appetites for glory,” writes Tudum.
