Rapid Reaction: Kentucky comes up short vs. Kansas
It was a tough pill to swallow in a game that was well within reach — even in hand at times. Down the stretch, though, Kentucky couldn’t come up with the shots necessary to upset No. 1 Kansas in the Champions Classic.
Down 9-0 early, the Wildcats responded to lead by as many as 12 in the first half, then 14 in the second. They even pushed it back to six after the Jayhawks retook the lead, a neck-and-neck battle down the stretch. An 11-1 run for KU to close things out, though, sealed UK’s fate and sent John Calipari’s squad back to Lexington with a difficult loss.
